Hawk the paladin by MatesLaurentiu Hawk the paladin by MatesLaurentiu
And here goes the fourth in the series, the leader of the party, Hawk, the paladin. Its always fun to work on armor but to be honest never worked so hard on a character in such a tight deadline.

Hawk is the paladin in a party from a custom D&D campaign dedicated on eradicating an undead infestation. The campaign has been amusingly called "28 Turns Later" as a spoof to the movie "28 Days Later" which deals with a similar issue.
He is just one of the six characters I've done for that campaign, most of them specially built to deal with ghouls, zombies, liches, wraiths and such.

This is more of a fantasy armor but actually it seemed the last generation of real full armor were so beautifully engineered it allowed for full movement range. Unfortunately not long after the gun powder came into place and made the armor forfeit. But, in case you're still curious, here's a guy performing some movement in a half plate armor: [link]
Battles were fought in a very interesting way also, not as we generally imagine nowadays, with two guys in armor bashing swords and shields. Shot demonstration of technique here: [link]
Only now historians have managed to unearth old documentation and fight manuals about how they really fought back then.

WOW pretty amazing!! He explains the techniques of the storys we ready!!
Loved u.u
I see that the movement is not harmed, a bit hard and caught with some aspects, but not totally impossible to complete the tasks entrusted to the armor. Great videos!
Yeah we don't really know how they were formerly only imagined it, which has almost no veracity.
Thanks by the way ^^

Glad to have been of help. I usually browse around the web for videos like these because they help me understand better my work. In a way it was detrimental, I still can't do those over the top heavy armors with huge shoulder pads and gloves people love so much nowadays because World of Warcraft and Diablo. Even my most outrageous armor design have an utilitarian factor about them. I always try to imagine how people move in their clothing and if it fits what they do.

haha I believe that this is what makes your designs so good!
You really goes after, search, this gives a completely different basis to the design and each new attempt you tend to enhance every feature and detail.
Keep up the great work, I'm grateful to be able to participate in your evolution as an artist, even if only as a spectator! ^^

Yeah, yeah WOW and Diablo are greats models, i love whatching and playing the game, the action is exciting and the costumes, especially the elves, are incredible. It's a little difficult to imagine that, is not it? But, I guess you're used to, it makes things much easier, I think... XD

I grew up with Warcraft and Diablo (well, I was old enough when they got out but I got to play both Warcraft 1 & 2, way before WoW). What I enjoy most and consider each and one of them masterpieces, are the cinematics. Never seen any so detailed, so vivid and with such condensed storytelling in each one of them. Beautiful stuff!

hahaha The way you think about this games, it's the same that i have about Agatha Christie's books, and some movies and mangas. I think they're amazing and intriguing (the books, i mean) the mangas capture my attention in another level. I love them!
