Omar Salladin by MatesLaurentiu Omar Salladin by MatesLaurentiu
The sun was closing like a wounded eye over the dunes. Wind was biting softly into the sandy back of the desert, twisting small strands of fine dust into the still hot air. Omar knew it was not wise to leave the oasis before night, but he had to move. His cat companion was growing restless, feeling the band of pursuers maybe miles behind them. Both Omar and his unusual ride barely had time for a quick rest in the shade, a few mouth fulls of water and a bit of time to replenish the rations for the rest of the trip.
The shadows stretched longer, colder over the darkening sand as the two, man and creature ventured into the darkening desert, the man hoping their tracks will be blown away by the wind.
He hoped into the strange saddle on the back of the tiger and the feline growl softly. It turned its huge head baring its fang, not menacingly, but rather asking "where now?". Omar patted softly the side of his companion and the tiger started, first slowly, then stretching his muscled, agile body, in great leaps through the dunes. Behind, the sun drowned in the sands, painting blood in the sky.

I can't say. I actually don't have time to just paint him as a personal project but if the client returns with a commission of him, there might be a chance. That 'tho will take some time as I closed all commissions for now while I work on some "Rise of the Drow" project images.

I'm glad you like it. Yes, the light play on the blade was a last minute thought. I even added a bit of a lens flare there (although I kind of hate lens flare - movies make too much use of them).

I do not know, maybe the tiger paw that sinks a little 'in the sand?

It does but I guess the effect is mellowed down by the blowing sand.

My every small movement with the head, the screen colors change.

If you buy yourself a new monitor, check that it has IPS technology. They are a bit more expensive than your average but for digital painting its a must. IPS technology allows for a greater angle of view and more stable colors. Its kind of hilarious that all the new fancy technology can't yet beat the old CRT monitors when it comes to true colors and adjustments- but they're getting there.:)

Great story and amazing image!
It feels like as if a real photo got a cartoonish look.
Incredible details, especially on the armor of the tiger, great shadows and everything, really

It was the armor of the tiger when I realized I was about to go overboard with details again so I slowed down. :D

It looks like really atmospheric thing) The heat is over and they're continuing journey... One thing, but "tiger" isn't fluffy enough, is it?

I'm not sure what you mean by fluffy but I put "fluff" just around the cheek, tail and at the leg joints areas. I didn't want to transform him into a freshly washed and dry kitty. :P

Credit goes to the client for that, he's the one who came with the idea. Me - well, me I would go with something more outrageous, like a millipede or lizard for a desert environment. But you have to give it to the tiger, its fast and silent. Pretty nice for stealthy and quick missions. :D

Absolutely stunning work with light and shadow, especially for the engraved metal work. I'm always impressed by your really quick turnout rate and breath taking attention to detail

I have to suppress my details because I tend to go overboard and loose the focus in the image. But I personally love details. :D

Wow. That's great! The sky and the whole background is lovely. I really like that "pandertiger", and the character himself is great. Are there scars on his face?

Indeed, made by a tiger long ago. I actually would never ever get close to a tiger if one would have done that to me but he seems like a very brave and trusting man. :D

Wow very spectacular my good friend, just absolutely stunning. Also I saw on an imgur post, a kid giving a heart shaped balloon to a Romanian riot officer standing at a blockade. There is still hope in humanity.
